Bhagabatpur Crocodile Project is situated on the northern bank of the river Saptamukhi, opposite the Lothian Island Wildlife Sanctuary. This project was initiated in the year 1976 with an object of replenishing the depleting estuarine crocodile population of the Sunderbans by hatching crocodiles from the eggs collected from nature. Since the inception of this project, about 370 crocodiles have been reared in this centre and released into the wild. One can observe estuarine crocodiles of different sizes here.
